Fain leads the way
The top game and series of the week at the Galaxy Center were bowled by Mike Fain in the Friday Night Mixed League with a 264 game and 642 series. Fain’s 264 score ties him with David Norman for the highest game of the season at Galaxy.
Linda Bowles had the best women’s series of the week with a 530 in the Arlington Ladies League, while the best women’s game was 210 by Lemetta Dause in the Galaxy Girls League.
League Highlights
Galaxy Classic
Four men — Lewis Jones Sr. (620), Joe Reichel (617), Bruce Watson (616) and Lewis Jones Jr. (610) — reached the 600 series level last Monday.
Dale Stone rolled the highest game with a 255, which is the third-highest game of the season for this league.
Watson (236), Reichel (230) and Jones Jr. (225) had the next best games.
Eleven other men also bowled 200-level games. Those who bowled scores of 200 or better are listed at the end of the column.
Galaxy Girls
The top game (210) and series (494) were bowled by Lemetta Dause. Shella Cobb had the second-highest series (493), while Rita Roberts rolled the second-highest game (187).
Andrea Baker and Dana Starnes each picked up the 6-7 split.
Cloia Sparks had a season-best 175 game.
Friday Night Mixed
New highs for the season were set in four major areas in this league last week.
Mike Fain set a new series high for men with a 642, which included a new game high, 264.
Miranda Rowe set a new high for a woman’s series in the league, 526, and Michelle Albertson’s 207 score was a new women’s game high.
Lewis Jones Jr., (620) and Lewis Jones Sr, (605) also bowled series scores exceeding 600.
TGIF
Merle Meade bowled the top game of the week (212), while Terry Malin had the top series (548) and second-highest game (192).
The top woman’s game was 191 by Lemetta Dause, while Terry Wilson had the highest women’s series (504) and second-highest game (184).
Wednesday Wonders
Woody Arvin led this league with a 238 game and 557 series. Terry Jackson rolled the only other 200 game with a 205.
Beverly Shearer had the top women’s game, 184, and series, 527. Sheila Patrick had the second-highest women’s game, 165.
David Norman picked up the 3-10 split and Terry Moses converted the 2-4-10, twice.
Classic Doubles
The top game in this league was a 222 by Doug Breeding, while Wesley Canter had the second-highest game (193) and top series (551).
Beverly Shearer bowled the top game (188) and series (517) for the women. Tina Hisle had the second-highest women’s game, 172.
Doug Breeding converted the 4-10 split.
Early Birds
The top game (198) and series (494) were recorded by Beverly Shearer.
Helen Hacker had the second-highest series (458) and Beverly Brassfield the second-highest game (191).
Juanita Lunsford bowled a season-best 170 game.
Arlington
Linda Bowles led this league with a season-best 202 game and 530 series, while Doris Gish was second in each category at 193 and 521.
Several league members had season-best games, including Karen Milanesi (176), Janell Williams (171), Pam Northern (171), Sybil Fagan (165), Peggy Coy (158), Sherry Ernst (158) and Betty Morris (156).
Bad Bowlers
Jim Hisle (206), David Robinson (204) and Jay Puckett (200) bowled the top games in this league last week.
Tina Hisle (164) and Cassie Gallagher (133) had the highest games for the women.
Four bowlers picked up splits. Jim Hisle and Steve Dickey each converted the 3-10, Ed Maggard the 2-5-7, and Dean Acker the 3-10 and the 3-6-7-10.
