KIAC BASKETBALL: Mountaineers snap losing streak

RICHMOND — The Berea College Mountaineers (8-7) broke a six-game losing streak Saturday with a 97-69 win over Kentucky Christian in the Seabury Center.

Kentucky Christian led early before the Mountaineers pulled out to a 46-29 halftime lead and cruised to their eighth victory of the season.

Seth Beckham led six Mountaineers in double digits with 19 points. He also had four rebounds, three assists and five steals.

Tyler Huff finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Ryan Schnellenberger and Tevin Webster had 12 points apiece, Rashad Hayden had 11 and Koty Riley had 10 points and four rebounds.

Dominique Garmon had seven points for the Mountaineers, while former Madison Southern standout Aaron Ponder added six points and a team-high 10 rebounds, seven assists and six steals, and Bryce Carlton had five points and seven assists.

The Mountaineers will be back in action at 8 p.m. Tuesday when they take on Alice Lloyd College in their KIAC opener.
