LITTLE LEAGUE: Richmond American blanks Richmond National, 10-0

The Richmond American All-Stars blanked the Richmond Nationals 10-0 on Wednesday night during 9-10 year-old action at Anderson-Dean Park in Harrodsburg.

Both teams are now 2-1 in the tournament.

The American team scoerd two runs in the first inning, six more in the second and put the game away in the bottom of the fourth with two runs to win by the mercy rule.

In the first inning walks and wild pitches put runners on second and third with no outs for the Americans.

Sawyer Cruse singled home Nicholas Shortridge for the first run and Thomas Bowen scored on a ground out by Lance Cruse to make it 2-0.

The Americans busted the game open in the second inning, taking an 8-0 lead.

Bruce Snapp doubled to right-center, scoring Cruse Pingleton for a 3-0 lead.

One run scored on a bases loaded walk, another scored on an error and Devin Lewis singled home a run for a 6-0 lead.

Two more runs scored on a bases loaded walk and a double play, making it 8-0.

Noah Metcalf doubled home a run in the fourth and the Americans won when Isaac Maples scored on a wild pitch.

Pingleton earned the win, throwing four innings and allowing five hits and no runs. He struck out three batters.

For the Americans, Shortridge, Sawyer, Metcalf, Lewis, Caleb Rice and Snapp all had base hits.

Bowen scored three runs and Maples and Shortridge each scored twice.

Sawyer and Cruse each had two RBIs and Bowen, Metcalf, Lewis and Snapp also knocked home one run.

For the Nationals, Grant Hotchkiss, Luke Foley, Zachary Purvis, Nathan Storie and Colton Perkins each had a hit.

Richmond American plays Friday against Harrison County. Richmond National plays Friday against Eastern American.
