H.S. SOCCER: Model rolls to Senior Night win

RICHMOND — The Model Laboratory boys soccer team rolled to an easy victory Saturday on Senior Night in Richmond.

Ephraim Otieno scored twice and Turner Curtis, John Reisig and Chris Wylie also scored as the Patriots topped Corbin, 5-0.

Andrew Wylie had two assists and Otieno, Reisig, Noah Valenca and Chris Wylie also had assists.

The Patriots are now 10-2 on the season.

Reisig got the scoring started early. The senior found the net in the second minute. Reisig out-raced a defender to the ball and hooked a shot into the net.

With 26:20 left in the first half, Andrew Wylie worked the ball into the left corner and passed out in front of the net to Chris Wylie, who was able to rip a shot into the empty net.

The win help the Patriots bounce back from a 1-0 loss at Franklin County at Thursday.

Model is set to return to action Monday at Paris.

Somerset 5, Model 2

The Lady Patriots found the net twice, but couldn’t make an early lead hold up Saturday on Senior Night in Richmond.

Somerset stormed back for a 5-2 win.

Ashlee Thornsberry scored in the opening minutes off an assist from Ruby Smith. Somerset tied the game just before the half, then added four-straight second-half goals.

Natasha Harrison scored late in the second half for Model (0-12).

The Lady Patriots are set to return to action Monday at home against South Laurel.
