RICHMOND —
The final two leagues among the ten in action during the fall and winter season at the Galaxy Center finished their seasons April 29.
The winning teams and leading individual performances for these leagues are recognized in the league highlights section.
Three leagues will be bowling during the summer season.
Brandon Simpson recorded the top scores last week with a 269 game and 767 series.
The top women's series was 561 by Novel Davis while Tina Hisle bowled the high women's game at 204.
A Sad Note
The mother of Galaxy manager Courtney Worley passed away last week. The members of the local bowling community extend their condolences to Courtney and her family.
League Highlights
Friday Night Mixed
That Team!! (Miranda Rowe, Steve Woltering, Russell Jones, and Lewis Jones, Jr.) captured the league championship as this league completed its 32-week 2010-11 season April 29.
The Mud Ducks (Shasta, Christy, Robert, and Ronald Richmond) finished second while third place went to 3 Straights & A Hooker (Michelle Albertson, Novel Davis, Neil Haggard, and Brandon Simpson).
Glenn Masters bowled the top scores on the last night with a 257 game and 716 series. This was the fifth 700 series of the season for Masters.
Brandon Simpson rolled the second best game (247) and John Hickam the second highest series (667). Simpson, Lewis Jones, Jr. and Neil Haggard also bowled series scores over 600.
Novel Davis led the league's ladies on the final night with a 202 game and 561 series. Wanda Jones had the second best game (200) and Genny Bryant the second highest series (466).
The highest averages for the season were recorded by Lewis Jones, Jr. 205, Glenn Masters 202, Neil Haggard 195, John Hickam 188 and Ronald Richmond 181.
Jones, Jr. also bowled the top series at 771, followed by Haggard 728, Hickam 719, Masters 718 and Richmond 658.
The high game was 296 by Masters with Haggard 280, Jones, Jr. 277, Kenny Smith 266 and Hickam 265 next in line.
League members must bowl in at least two-thirds of the season's games to qualify for the top individual awards in a league. Brandon Simpson would have ranked in the top five in each category, but he joined this league late and did not bowl in enough games to be ranked.
Novel Davis took the "triple crown" for the women with a 170 average, 582 series and 241 game.
The best women's averages after Davis were Miranda Rowe 161, Wanda Jones 143, Genny Bryant 141 and Lisa Ball 136.
Completing the top series list were Rowe 570, Jones 505, Gloria Tyler 496 and Ball 495.
The highest games after Davis were bowled by Barbara Brogle 234, Rowe 220, Tyler 214 and Ball 201.
Most improved honors went to Glenn Masters for the men and Shasta Richmond for the women.

This league has also completed the 2010-11 season April 29 with Forever Hopeful (Lemetta Dause, Tib Congleton and Patricia and Charles Harris) taking the league title.
M & M (Merle Meade and Helen and Alfred McKnight) finished in second place with The Pickups (Sara Zuercher, Beverly Werner, and Sandy Reynolds) placing third.
The mother-daughter duo of Reynolds and Zuercher bowled identical series scores of 622 on the final night which set a new high for the league. Zuercher (234) and Reynolds (213) also rolled the top games on the last night.
The men were led on the last night by Merle Meade with a 203 game and 588 series followed by Fred Tilsley at 202 and 520.
Donnie Kearns put in a bid to be king of the split makers by picking up both a 5-7 and 5-10 split in the same game. Splits were also converted by Dause (2-7) and Harold Stoll (3-10).
Merle Meade took the "triple crown" for the men with the top average of 185, series of 618, and game of 239.
The best averages after Meade were 170 by Terry Malin, 166 by Alfred McKnight, 165 by Don Johnson and 164 by Fred Tilsley.
The second through fifth best series were rolled by Harold Stoll 591, Johnson 589, Malin 571 and Tilsley 567.
The highest game scores after Meade were Johnson 235, Charles Harris 233, Malin 224 and McKnight 223.
The top women's averages were achieved by Sandy Reynolds 175, Sara Zuercher 173, Lemetta Dause 155, Patricia Harris 152 and Helen McKnight 137.
The best series were bowled by Zuercher 622, Reynolds 622, Dause 517, Harris 511 and McKnight 509.
Reynolds 235, Zuercher 234, Harris 219, Dause 206 and McKnight 198 rolled the top games.
Most improved honors went to Alfred McKnight for the men and Sara Zuercher for the women.
Classic Doubles
Jerry R. Rose bowled the top series (621) in this league last Thursday, and he tied Anthony Newland for the high game at 235.
Lemetta Dause (530) and Novel Davis (526) rolled the high series scores for women. The series by Dause included a no-miss 193 game.
The top women's games were 204 by Tina Hisle and 199 by Davis.
Carl Daniels converted 2-7 and 3-10 splits.
Summer Cash Money League
Brandon Simpson led this league last week with a 269 game and 767 series followed by John Hickam at 247 and 666.
This was the ninth 700 series of the season for Simpson, but two of them came in this non-sanctioned fun league.
Larry Leach and Lewis Jones, Jr. also bowled series scores over 600.
The league's women were led by Novel Davis with a 196 game and 522 series followed by Christina Wingett at 147 and 394.
Nate Haskins converted a 3-7-10 split.
Tuesday Night No-Tap
Nine pin down with the first ball in a frame counts as a strike in no-tap leagues so scores are higher than in leagues with standard scoring.
Carl Daniels bowled the top series for the night at 669 followed by Skip Cowell at 643. They also rolled the top men's games, 243 for Daniels and 234 for Cowell.
However, Gloria Tyler led all the league's bowlers for the night with a 273 game. Patricia Green rolled the high women's series at 627.
Sue Hegelmeyer rolled the second best women's game (233) and series (621).
Misty Hisle picked up a 6-7 split.

Mackenzie Wilder took a no-hitter into the seventh-inning and Madison Central picked up its fourth straight softball district championship, beating Madison Southern 4-0 Wednesday night at Gertrude Hood Field at Eastern Kentucky University.

44th District baseball, softball postponed
The opening games of the 44th District softball and baseball tournament did not make it out of the second inning Monday evening before the teams were forced off the field.
Both games were later postponed because of rain and lightning. -
BOWLING: Cracraft leads the way at Galaxy
The top scores bowled at Galaxy last week were a 269 game by Matt Cracraft in the Monday Mixed League and a 719 series by Randy Burgess Sr. in the non-sanctioned Wednesday Summer League.

Judging only by the results of the regular-season meetings between the four Madison County schools, it would be nearly impossible to predict the outcome of this week’s 44th District Softball Tournament.
