RICHMOND —
Adam Herald’s second-round performance at the Musselman-Dunne Tour Championship wasn’t nearly as impressive as his first-round showing.
However, it didn’t need to be.
Herald carried a five-stroke lead into Tuesday’s final round at Big Spring Country Club in Louisville and cruised to a nine-stroke victory. The former Madison Central standout shot a 70 on Monday and a 76 on Tuesday and finished at a +2, 146.
Three players — Michael McDade of Shepherdsville, Joseph Haydon of Springfield and Dustin Gosser of Russell Springs — tied for second in the college men division of the tournament after shooting a +11, 146.
Even though Herald was +4 on Tuesday, he still posted the second-best round of the day. Only Sam Zirnheld of Louisville had a lower round than Herald (75).
Herald has signed to play golf at Eastern Kentucky University and is set to join the school’s squad this fall.
Pepsi Tour
Dylan Hensley of Richmond finished tied for third Tuesday in the boys 13-14 year-old division of a Pepsi Tour Event at the Gary Brewer Junior Golf Course in Lexington.
Hensley shot a 38 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine and finished with a 81. He finished eight strokes behind the winner in that age division.
