RICHMOND —
The Madison Central boys soccer team wrapped up play in the Colonel Classic Tournament with a 2-1 loss Sunday in a shootout to Bourbon County in Paris.
Evan Roberts scored for the Indians, but the game was tied after regulation. Brent Walls and Daniel Parke each scored in the shootout, but Bourbon County took the victory.
After the Colonels’ first goal, Central goalie Ben Durham was injured. Sophomore Levi Knutson finished out the rest of the first half and finished the game with four saves.
The Indians had 17 shots, led by Austin McAlister (five) and Parke (four). Zach Brock had three shots, while Luke Hall, Frankie Cooke, Roberts, Addison McCoy and Chad Barnes had one shot each.
Central defender Sean Livingston was named to the All-Tournament team.
The Indians played two games on Saturday, falling to No. 3 Henry Clay, 3-1, then beating Montgomery County, 2-1.
In the loss to Henry Clay, Evan Roberts scored the only goal for Central while Durham posted seven saves.
In the win over Montgomery County, Brock scored twice in the first half, with Walls assisting on the second goal. Durham had seven saves.
The Indians are set to take on district rival Berea Tuesday at Bellevue’s Memorial Field.
Central golfers take 10th
The Madison Central boys golf team finished 10th Saturday at the Battle of the Bluegrass at The Cardinal Club in Simpsonville.
The Indians shot a team total of 323 (+35) and finished just two strokes behind Lexington Catholic.
Devin Gabbard and Carter Skipworth tied for the best round for Central. Both posted a +6, 78, and tied for 25th.
Dylan Kelley shot a +11, 83, and tied for 51st. John Cornelison shot a +12, 84, and tied for 61st, while Grant Willoughby shot a +19, 91, and finished tied for 84th.
