RICHMOND — The Indians couldn’t overcome serious foul trouble to pick up a win Saturday on the road.

Madison Central had three players foul out — Ken-Jah Bosley, Hunter Stocker and Quan Taylor — and fell at Russell County, 89-83. The Lakers were 25-of-31 from the free throw line and shot 59 percent from the field, including 71 percent (15-of-21) in the second half.

Senior point guard Dominique Hawkins had 32 points, six rebounds and four assists, Bosley had 18 points and four assists and Sam Jones had 15 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

Central (20-5) shot 45 percent from the field and was 16-of-23 from the free throw line.

Tyler Robertson had 36 points and five rebounds to lead Russell County.

DeMarcus George had eight points off the bench, Daniel Parke had six points and Stocker had four points and four rebounds.

The Indians had a 23-12 lead after the first quarter and had a 45-43 lead at halftime.

Russell County out-scored Central 25-18 in the fourth quarter.

The Indians are set to return to action Tuesday at South Laurel.

Berea 89, Piarist 45

The Berea Community Pirates picked up their seventh victory of the season with an 89-45 win over Piarist Saturday.

The Pirates led 18-15 after one quarter but outscored Pierst 30 to 16 to pull out to a 48-31 lead at the half.

The Berea defense took over in the second half, limiting Pierst to seven points in the third quarter while the Pirates poured in 25 to pull ahead 73-47 after three quarters.

Berea outscored the visitors 16-7 in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

Bradley Adkins and Andy Allen led the Pirates with 12 points each. Allen also had a team-high 11 rebounds, 17 assists and six steals.

Two other Pirates also scored in double figures. Daniel Hubbard added 11 points, while Nolan Sweet had 10.

Neil Claytor finished with nine, Dustin Kates had eight, Cameron Coyle, Deondre Tate and Austin Warford had six points each, Eli Woodie finished with five and Dalton Gadd added two points.

The Pirates shot 33 percent from the field and 23 percent from behind the three-point line.

Berea will be back in action at home on Tuesday against Williamsburg at 7:30 p.m.

Lady Pirates 69, Oneida Baptist 48

The Berea Community Lady Pirates, (16-9) picked up their third straight victory Saturday, 69-48 on the road over Oneida Baptist Institute.

The Lady Pirates led from wire-to-wire, jumping out to a 30-24 lead at the half before pulling away in the second half to win going away.

Victoria Sexton led all scorers with 16 points for the Lady Pirates. Alex Horn and Jordan Sandefur also finished in double figures with 15 and 14 points respectively.

During the three-game win streak, the Lady Pirates have gotten big contributions from Sexton and Horn on the inside, Coach Jerry Bingham said, which opens up shots on the outside for his guards.

The Lady Pirates had a balanced scoring attack with nine players getting in the scoring column.

Taylor Powell finished with nine points, while Allie Bernard added five, Ashley Sizemore, Miranda Montgomery and Conner Coyle had three points each and Emily Keyser had two points.

The Lady Pirates will be back in action Monday when they take on Wolfe County at home at 7:30 p.m.

McCreary Central 84, Lady Patriots 51

The Lady Patriots suffered an 84-51 loss to McCreary Central Saturday in the Cancer Awareness Classic at Pulaski County.

Model (5-18) is set to return to action Tuesday at home against East Jessamine.
