LITTLE LEAGUE: YANKEES TAKE TITLE

RICHMOND — Back-to-back big innings gave the Northside Equipment Yankees all the runs they would need to claim a championship.

The Yankees scored four times in both the second and third innings and went on to pick up 10-4 win Monday over the SAE Marlins in the title game of the Richmond Little League Senior League Tournament.

Crea Knight started and went four innings for the Yankees. Easten Shouse pitched the final three innings.

The Marlins took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and rallied for two more runs in the fifth, but couldn’t get any closer. The Yankees put the game out of reach with two more runs in the sixth.

Brandon Huntzinger started and went three innings for the Marlins. Alex Mayes pitched the final four innings.

For the Yankees, Dalton Ward had two hits and scored two runs, Drake Coomer had two hits and scored a run, Daylan Culton had a double and scored twice, Connor Caskey had two hits, Logan Bertrand had two hits and a walk, Ben Dantic had a double and scored a run, Knight had a hit and scored a run and Shouse scored a run.

For the Marlins, Austin Beetlestone had four walks and scored a run, Sean Felicicchia had two hits and a walk, Michael Kendrick had a hit and a walk, Luke Todd had a double and scored a run and Mayes had a double.

All-Stars announced

Following the conclusion of the Senior League Tournament, the league’s All-Stars were announced.

The 2012 Richmond Little League Junior Division All-Stars include: Justin Ferris, Alec Rogers, Tanner Thornsberry, Daniel Wilkerson, Cody Simpson, Daniel Winn, Gary Wooton, Sean Felicicchia, Brandon Huntzinger, Brynnan Bertrand, Drake Coomer and Easten Shouse.

The 2012 Richmond Little League Senior Division All-Stars include: David Denny, Drew Harmon, Ashton Scott, Tenny Akihary, Kendan Angel, Austin Beetlestone, Michael Kendrick, Luke Todd, Daylan Culton, Ben Dantic, Crea Knight and Dalton Ward.
