GOLF: Skipworth, Neal shine at State Am

RICHMOND — Carter Skipworth knocked three shots off his first-round total and put together a run up the leaderboard Tuesday at the Kentucky Junior Amateur Championship at My Old Kentucky Home Golf Course.

Skipworth fired a second-round 74 and finished seventh in the boys 14-and-under division.

The Richmond native finished with a two-round total of 151, +9. Skipworth was tied for eighth after shooting a 77 on Monday.

John Augenstein of Owensboro won the division with a -3, 140. Zach Norris of McKee was second with a +1, 143 and Matt Liston of Louisville was third with a total score of 145, +3.

The event was sponsored by the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour.

In the girls competition, Richmond’s MacKenzie Neal finished fourth in the 12-and-under division.

Neal finished with a total score of 88. She shot a 43 on Monday and a 45 on Tuesday.

The girls competition was held at Bardstown County Club in Maywood.
