The Madison Central boys bowling team edged Paris 4-3 by pin count in a match Wednesday at the Galaxy Bowling Center, while the Lady Indians lost 5-2 to the Greyhounds.
The boys eked out the win with a total pin count of 2,136 to the Greyhounds’ 2,078 pins on the strength of a strong 217 in the last Bakers match. The Indians ended the deciding match by rolling six consecutive strikes. Josh Maynard of the Indians finished with three strikes in the 10th frame.
This is the second year for the Central bowling team. Last season the school fielded a coed team but this season an expanded roster has allowed the Indians to field both boys and girls teams.
Coach Mark Harrison leads the boys team which includes Adam Cromer, Blake Jackson, Josh Maynard, Thomas Speakman, Antonio Thrash, Daelyn White, William White, Marcus Willis and Grant Willoughby.
Coach Johnny Harrison, no relation, leads the girls team consisting of Krisitina Dryagin, Debborah Harrison, Kat Hoover, Brittany Hurst, Elizabeth Rodgers, Kaylee Speakman and Angelica Vickery.
The two coaches have been pleased that the young teams have been competitive in their early matches and are showing steady improvement.
