RICHMOND —
The Dentistry on Main Tigers and Kiwanis Red Sox both wrapped up tournament titles during Richmond Little League action Thursday night at Lake Reba.
In the Minor League American Division Tournament, the Tigers held on for an exciting 11-10 win over the Soft Shoe Royals.
In the Major League American Division Tournament, the Red Sox defeated the Central Kentucky Surgery A’s, 9-6.
In the Minor League American Division Tournament, the Tigers took a 9-4 lead after scoring five runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Royals battled back, getting four runs in the fourth to tie the game.
The Tigers got two runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game, but the Royals got another run in the fifth to cut the lead back to one.
In the sixth, the Royals had the potential game-tying run cut down at the plate when catcher Luke Coleman tagged out a runner for the final out.
For the Tigers, Bryce Snapp, Coleman, Zachary Holbrook and Devin Lewis all scored twice. Nicholas Lemieux and Donovan McGinnis each scored once.
For the Royals, Nicholas Shortridge scored three times, Ryan Huntzinger, Sawyer-Nash Taylor and Tre Hood each scored twice. Colby Sebastian also scored a run.
In the Major League American Division Tournament, the A’s got two home runs from Dillon Wheatley, but the Red Sox rallied from an early deficit to pick up the win.
The A’s got two runs in the first, then the Red Sox rallied with five in the third and three in the fourth to take a 8-4 lead.
Logan Thomason homered in the sixth for the Red Sox to give his team a three-run lead.
Thomason scored three times, Jacob Edwards and Kyle Brubaker each scored twice and Denton Witt and Lincoln Lunsford each scored once.
For the A’s, Wheatley scored twice and had three RBIs, while Michael Atkinson and Luke Keck each scored twice.
All-Stars announced
Following the conclusion of Thursday night’s title games, the Richmond Little League American All-Stars were announced.
The 2012 Richmond American 9-10 year-old All-Stars include: Isaac Maples and Caleb Rice — Brent Ray Homes; D’Marko Foster and Cruse Pingleton — Chick-Fil-A; Lance Cruse, Logan Metcalfe and Noah Metcalfe — Davis Law; Devin Lewis and Bryce Snapp — Dentistry on Main; Thomas Bowen and Sawyer Cruse — Madison Pediatrics and Nicholas Shortridge — Soft Shoe.
The 2012 Richmond American 11-year-old All-Stars include: Kenton Humphrey and Luke Keck — Central Kentucky Surgery; Jason Deerfield, Lucas Myers and Hayden Waterbeck — Peoples Bank; Elijah Chasteen, Lincoln Lunsford and Tyler Santiago — Kiwanis and Hagan Brinegar and Chase Wainscott — University Book and Supply.
The 2012 Richmond American 11-12 year-old Al-Stars include: Derek Daniel, James Goble, Connor Taylor and Dillon Wheatley — Central Kentucky Surgery; Logan Bertrand, Evan Courtwright and Hunter Pergrem — Peoples Bank and Kyle Brubaker, Corbin Roberts, Logan Thomason and Denton Witt — Kiwanis.
