RICHMOND —
The Madison Southern girls soccer team remained undefeated, picking up a 9-0 victory Thursday night at Somerset.
Southern (4-0) led 2-0 at halftime, before exploding for seven goals in the second half.
“We were not playing up to our potential,” Southern coach Katy Cress said of the first half. “We had plenty of shots, but we couldn’t finish on anything.”
Annie Ware scored both goals in the first half for Southern.
In the second half, the Lady Eagles got going, scoring one goal after another to put the game away.
“In the second half we settled down, we were making smarter passes and keeping the ball on the ground,” Cress said. “Somerset has a small field and we weren’t using that to our advantage. We got it together in the second half and turned things on.”
