RICHMOND —
The Madison Insurance Agency Royals delivered a decisive victory Monday in the finals of the Richmond Little League’s Coach Pitch Tournament.
The Royals defeated the Grant’s Excavating Red Sox, 12-2, at Lake Reba.
In the Rookie Coach Pitch Tournament, the Redi Mart Giants forced a one-game showdown for the title with an 8-6 win over the Baldwin & Associates Twins.
The Twins and Giants will meet at 6:30 p.m. today in the tournament’s title game.
In the Coach Pitch title game, the Royals scored three times in the first and fifth innings, then added six more runs in the sixth inning to seal the victory.
For the Royals, Kaden Carrwhite, Cole Biliter, Matthew Johns, Landon Brinegar and Corbin Thacker each scored two runs. Michael Haddix and Terry Herald each scored one run.
For the Red Sox, Nathan Marcum and Austin Jacobson each scored a run.
In the Rookie Coach Pitch action, the Giants used a five-run third inning to take an 8-0 lead. The Twins got four runs in the bottom of the third and two more runs in the fifth, but couldn’t get any closer.
For the Giants, Jackson Taylor and Austin Hasty each scored twice, while Adam Berry, Eli Steele, Eli Metcalfe and Samuel Estes each scored once.
For the Twins, Brian Prewitt and Brady Hensley each scored twice, while Jayden West and Cody Bost each scored once.
