Local swimmers heading to state
Madison County will certainly be well-represented at this year’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Swim Meet.
Ten local swimmers are set to compete in events at the meet, which is scheduled for this weekend at the University of Louisville. In addition, eight local relay teams qualified to compete for a state title.
Seven swimmers are scheduled to compete in two individual events.
Madison Central’s Summer Spillman is set to compete in two events — the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke. Spillman had the sixth-fastest time in the state in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Central’s Caroline Smith had the ninth-fastest qualifying time in the 100-yard freestyle and also qualified in the 200-yard free.

Model’s Kathryn Brown is set to compete in the 100-yard free and the 200-yard free, while teammate Christa Nnoromele qualified in the 50-yard free and the 100-yard free.

Madison Central and Model both qualified teams in all three girls relay events.
Model’s girls had the sixth-best qualifying time in the 200-yard free, the 10th-best time in the 200-yard medley and the 14th-best qualifying time in the 400-yard free.
