H.S. GOLF: Central seventh at invite

RICHMOND — The Madison Central boys golf team finished tied for seventh on Saturday at the 49th Knights Travel KY Invitational Tournament held at Nevel Meade Golf Course in Prospect.

Central had a team score of 312 to finish at 24-over-par.

St. Xavier and West Jessamine each had the lowest score of nine-over-par 297, but West Jessamine was declared the winner based on their fifth player having a lower score than St. Xavier’s fifth player.

Ben Montgomery, of Christian Academy, had the lowest individual score with a three-under 69.

Central was led by Devin Gabbard, who finished tied for 16th with a score of 76.

Gabbard shot a 40 on the front nine and an even-par 36 on the back nine to finish four-over-par.

Central’s Dylan Kelley and John Cornelison finished in a 12-way tie for 28th with scores of 78.

Kelley shot had a 37 on the front nine and a 41 on the back nine and Cornelison had a 40 on front nine and a 38 on the back nine.

Carter Skipworth was tied for 46th with a score of 80 (39-41) and Zack Miller was tied for 74th with a score of 85 (41-44).
