RICHMOND — Madison Central had a double-digit lead in the second half, but Allen County-Scottsville rallied for a 74-72 double-overtime win Sunday in the opening round of the Citizens First Holiday Classic in Bowling Green.
The loss was the first of the season for the Indians (5-1). The Patriots improved to 8-0 with the win.
JaQuenton Jenkins had a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds, Terry Jarvis added 14 points, including four three-pointers, and Vince Clay had 12 points.
Central was up 35-29 at the half and 50-45 heading into the final quarter.
Tyler Mays knocked down a shot in the lane with 1.5 seconds in the first overtime to tie the game. He was fouled on the play, but missed the free throw attempt.
Jarvis missed a 25-foot would-be game-winner at the buzzer in the second overtime.
Phil Hayes finished with 21 points for the Patriots and led their comeback in the second half.
Central hit seven three-pointers, but was just seven-of-15 from the free throw line. The Indians also shot only 38 percent in the second half and 41 percent for the game.
Central is set to return to action at 7:30 p.m. today in Bowling Green against Mercer County.
