Rangers take title
RICHMOND — The Explosive Graphics Rangers put together a big second-inning rally and then rolled to a championship-clinching victory Saturday at Lake Reba.
The Rangers jumped out to an early five-run lead and went on to pick up a 10-5 victory over the Time Warner Cable Rays in the finals of the Richmond Little League’s Minor League American Division Tournament.
The Rays scored twice in the first inning, but the Rangers responded with seven runs in the second, a run in the fourth and two more runs in the sixth.
The Rays scored three times in the sixth, but the late rally fell short.
Bryar Rose started for the Rangers and worked into the sixth before Josh Clark came on to get the final outs.
Rose also scored three times.
Brandon Huntzinger started for the Rays. Cooper Jack Moore and Hunter Pergrem also pitched for Time Warner Cable.
Huntzinger also scored twice for the Rays.
Following the game, the Richmond American All-Stars were announced. The team, which will be coached by the Rangers’ Tony Rose, includes — Tyler Boneta and Cameron DeLao (Bob Roberts Insurance), Adam Ritchey (Central Bank), Logan Black and McKinley Sewell (Community Trust Bank), Jason Hurt (Coy, Gilbert & Gilbert), Jared Grant (Dairy Queen), Josh Clark and Bryar Rose (Explosive Graphics), Ryan Gordon and Alex Mayes (Silver Cliff Landscaping) and Brian Turner (Time Warner Cable).
The championship game of the Richmond Little League’s Minor League National Division Tournament is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Lake Reba.
