Madison Central got off to a strong start and never allowed West Jessamine to get within striking distance, rolling to a 61-34 victory Monday in Nicholasville.
The Lady Indians (12-4) have won nine straight and 11 of their last 12 games.
Central led after the first quarter, 17-6, on the way to a 30-11 halftime advantage. West Jessamine scored 23 second-half points, but was never able to seriously cut into the deficit.
Brislyn Sizemore led the Lady Indians with 14 points and eight rebounds. Jenna Cornelison had 12 points and three rebounds, Kayla Sharp chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds and Brianna Johnson added 10 points.
Central will return to action today against East Jessamine in Richmond. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
Eagles fall at Woodford
The Madison Southern boy’s basketball team played Woodford County close during the first half, but the Yellowjackets eventually pulled away for a 57-49 win Monday in Versailles.
Joey Wallace had 18 points and Carrington Roberts chipped in 10 points for Southern (7-5).
The Eagles were only down 27-25 at halftime.
Southern will face off against district rival Model Laboratory at 7:30 p.m. today in Richmond.
