LITTLE LEAGUE: Richmond All-Stars pick up victories

HARRODSBURG — A pair of Richmond Little League All-Star Teams picked up victories before rain washed out the rest of the schedule Sunday at the District 3 Tournament at Anderson-Dean Park in Harrodsburg.

The Richmond American 9-10 year-old All-Star needed extra innings, but came up with a 3-2 win over Mercer County.

The Richmond National 11-year-old All-Stars got a pair of home runs from Dalton Gregory and topped Anderson County, 15-10.

Three other local teams were scheduled to play Sunday, but those games were canceled. Those games will be played today — Richmond American 11-12 year-old All-Stars vs. Anderson County (6 p.m.), Richmond American 11 year-old All-Stars vs. Eastern National (5:30 p.m.) and Richmond National 9-10 year-old All-Stars vs. Harrison County (8 p.m.).

11-year-olds

Richmond National improved its record to 2-0 in pool play with 15-10 win over Anderson County Sunday in Harrodsburg.

Dalton Gregory hit a pair of two-run home runs and also had a double as he went 3-for-3. Ben Snapp was 2-for-3 with a single, double and a walk and Matthew McQuain had two doubles and a single.

Caleb Patterson and Devin Ecklar each pitched three solid innings.

Richmond National will return to action Tuesday against Mercer County.

9-10 year-olds

Richmond American bounced back from a loss Saturday with an exciting win Sunday in Harrodsburg.

Bryce Snapp scored on a single in the eighth inning by Devin Lewis to give Richmond American a 3-2 win over Mercer County.

Caleb Rice started and went six innings, allowing 10 hits, but no earned runs. Cruse Pingleton pitched the final two innings, giving up just one hit.

Mercer County took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Richmond American tied the game in the bottom of the fourth.

Noah Shortridge scored on an error and Lewis scored on a groundout by Logan Metcalfe.

Thomas Bowen had two hits, Lewis had two hits, an RBI and scored a run and Rice and Pingleton each had one hit.
