LITTLE LEAGUE: Local teams wrap up top seeds

RICHMOND — Richmond All-Star teams wrapped up top seeds in pool play during action Saturday at the District 3 Tournament at Anderson-Dean Park in Harrodsburg.

In the 11-year-old tournament, Richmond National defeated Richmond American, 3-2.

In the 12-year-old tournament, Richmond National stayed undefeated with a 6-1 win over Mercer County.

In the 9-10 year-old tournament, Richmond American closed out pool play with a 3-1 record after defeating Harrison County 12-2.



11-year-olds

The Richmond National All-Stars wrapped up an undefeated run through pool play of the District 3 Tournament Saturday at Anderson-Dean Park in Harrodsburg.

Jake Beck and Brandon Adams each had two hits as Richmond National (4-0) defeated Richmond American  (2-2), 3-2.

Richmond American took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, before Richmond National scored twice in the second and once more in the third.

Richmond American scored another run in the bottom of the fourth, but had only baserunner in the final two innings.

Devin Ecklar started and went two innings for Richmond National. Beck (1 1/3), Dalton Gregory (2 1/3 — win) and Ben Snapp (1/3 — save) also pitched for Richmond National.

Lincoln Lunsford started and went four innings for Richmond American. Tyler Santiago went two innings in relief.

Snapp had a hit and scored a run and Gregory had a hit and scored a run.

For Richmond American, Jason Deerfield had a hit and an RBI, Kenton Humphrey and Hayden Waterbeck each had a hit and Santiago and Lunsford each scored a run.

12 year-olds

The Richmond National All-Stars wrapped up an undefeated run through pool play of the District 3 Tournament Saturday at Anderson-Dean Park in Harrodsburg.

Jeremy Cox had a two-run home run and scored twice in a 6-1 win over Mercer County. Richmond National (3-0) will be the top seed from Pool B heading into the elimination portion of the tournament.

Richmond National scored first, getting a run in the second and stretched its lead to 3-1 in the third inning. Richmond National put the game out of reach with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Taelor Witt started and went two inning, allowing two hits and two walks. Jeremy Cox went 1 1/3rd innings and got the win. Jacob Ferris went one inning, Dalton Moore went 1 1/3rd innings and Austin Adams got the final out.

Moore had two hits, an RBI and scored a run, Chris Koretski had two hits, Cordell Hill had a hit and an RBI, Casey Brandenburg scored a run, Witt had a hit and scored a run and Isiah Minter scored a run.

Richmond National will face Anderson County at 3:30 p.m. today in the tournament semifinals.

Richmond American will face Mercer County at 1:30 p.m. today in the other semifinal.

9-10 year-olds

The Richmond American All-Stars had no trouble rolling to victory Saturday in Harrodsburg.

Richmond American scored twice in the first and four more times in the second and went on to pick up a 12-2 win over Harrison County. Noah Metcalfe, Thomas Bowen, Devin Lewis, Sawyer Cruse and Ben Snapp each pitched as Richmond American finished pool play with a 3-1 record.

In the first inning, Noah Shortridge and Sawyer Cruse each scored. In the second, Bowen had an RBI double, Lance Cruse had a two-run double and D’Mario Foster had a hit.

In the third, Sawyer Cruse and Lance Cruse each had doubles and Lewis had a hit.

In the fourth, Noah Metcalfe had a double and Bowen added a two-run double.

Richmond American will return to action in the tournament semifinals Monday in Harrodsburg.
