BASEBALL: All-Stars move into semifinals

RICHMOND — A pair of Richmond All-Star teams needed wins  Monday to secure spots in the semifinals of the Kentucky State Little League Tournament in Lebanon.

Both delivered big victories.

In the 11-12 year-old tournament, Richmond National defeated Adair County, 9-2.

In the 11-year-old tournament, Richmond American defeated North Oldham, 8-7, in the final game of pool play.

The wins move both teams within two wins of state championships. The semifinals of both tournaments are scheduled for today in Lebanon.

In the 9-10 year-old tournament, Richmond American wrapped up play with a 17-4 win Monday over Adair County.

 

11-12 year-olds

For the second straight day, Richmond National rolled to a lopsided win at the Kentucky State Little League Tournament in Marion County.

Alex Mayes and Bryar Rose were both 2-for-2 in the 9-2 win over Adair County. Garrison Gray was 2-for-3, while Ryan Gordon, Gavin Williams and Logan Black were each 1-for-2.

Gordon and Rose each had three RBIs.

Jeffery Villanacci started and went three innings with three strikeouts. Rose went 1 2/3 with three strikeouts. Gordon pitched 2/3rds of an inning with two strikeouts and Grant had one strikeout in 1/3rd on an inning.

Richmond National will return to action at 8 p.m. today in the semifinals.

 

11-year-olds

Richmond American secured a spot in the semifinals with an 8-7 win over North Oldham Monday in Lebanon.

The All-Stars scored two in the second, four in the third and two more runs in the fifth.

Corbin Roberts started and went 4 2/3 innings. He allowed two earned runs and also had a hit, a walk and an RBI.

Derek Daniel was 2-for-3, with an RBI and also pitched 1/3rd on an inning. Evan Courtwright pitched an inning and also had a hit and an RBI.

Trey Eden was 2-for-3 with two singles and an RBI. Hunter Pergrem had two hits and three RBIs, while Denton Witt and Kyle Brubaker each had a hit.

Richmond American is set to return to action at 8 p.m. today in the semifinals.

 

9-10 year-olds

Richmond American wrapped up the state tournament with a 17-4, four-inning win over Adair County Monday in Lebanon.

The All-Stars got two runs in the first, five in the second, one run in the third and nine more runs in the fourth.

Devin Eckler, Ben Snapp and Grant Hotchkiss all pitched for Richmond American.

In the second, Snapp had a two-run hit, while Thomas Bowen, Jacob Edwards, Hotchkiss and Lincoln Lunsford each scored.

In the fourth, Snapp tripled, Devin Lewis had an RBI single, Lunsford had an RBI triple, Eckler had an RBI double and Hotchkiss had a RBI double. Snapp then added a two-run double and Lunsford had a two-run double.
