H.S. SOCCER: McAlister leads the way as Central rolls

RICHMOND — Austin McAlister needed less than a half to notch a hat trick Tuesday night as Madison Central rolled past South Laurel, 6-0, at Bellevue.

The Indians, who have won three straight and are 5-2 in their past seven games, improve to 5-4 on the season.

South Laurel falls to 4-5.

In the 14th minute, Central’s Daniel Parke sent a give-and-go pass to Addison McCoy, and he went straight to the goal, netting the shot to give Central a 1-0 lead.

Ninety seconds later, McAlister recorded his first goal.

Luke Hall brought the ball up field, then lofted a short pass to McAlister, who headed the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead.

With 12:28 to play McAlister took off down the left sideline, cut into the middle of the field and went straight to the goal, scoring his second goal.

With 7:44 remaining until halftime McAlister picked up his third goal.

Parke sent a through ball down the right side to McAlister, who out-raced three South Laurel defenders, setting up a 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper. He scored to give the Indians a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Parke scored a goal one minute into the second half and McAlister added a fourth goal for the final margin.

The Indians held South Laurel to just one shot as they earned their second shutout of the season.

Central returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at home against district rival Model Laboratory.

Model leads the 44th District with a 2-0 record.

Southern is in second at 2-1, followed by Central at 0-1.

If Model wins Thursday they will nail down the No. 1 seed for the district tournament.

Central can end up anywhere from the No. 1 seed to the No. 4 seed, based on how they fair against Model and then Tuesday at home against Berea (0-2).
