Emerson wins Kentucky Junior Amateur

Eastern Kentucky University golfer April Emerson won her division of the Kentucky Junior Amateur Thursday at Bardston Country Club.

Emerson finished with a one-over par after shooting a one-under par 71 on the final day of play.

Emerson was in third place after the first day, but Kelsey Burrell, who had shot a 71 on the first day, finished with a four-over par on the second day and Allison Hancock, who only led Emerson by a shot, went seven-over on the final day.

Richmond’s Breyanne Bannister finished in sole possession of 21st place in the 13-15-year-old division of the Kentucky Junior Amateur Tournament. Bannister shot 10 strokes better than the first day and finished with a 58-over par 202.

The results of the boys Kentucky Junior Amateur were not available at time of press.
