All-Star teams split in Harrodsburg

The Richmond National All-Star team rolled to a convincing win over Winchester National Saturday in the opening game of the 11- and 12-year-old District 3 Tournament in Harrodsburg.

Joseph Holbrook drove in four runs and starting pitcher Alex Georgel didn’t allow a hit in three innings of work as Richmond picked up a 12-1, four-inning win.

In other action from the first day of play in the tournament, Richmond American put together a late rally, but fell to Mercer County, 4-3, on Saturday.

Richmond National never trailed and after a scoreless first inning pushed across four runs in the second, third and fourth innings.

Griffin Hotchkiss had two doubles and three RBIs, Derek Mills had a single, double and a triple and drove in three runs, Holbrook had a single and a double and Ben Morin had two singles.

Easton Shouse had a double, Nick Kavanaugh had a double and a single and Cameron Young had a single.

Mills pitched the final inning for Richmond, allowing Winchester National’s only run.

Richmond American trailed 4-0 heading into the final inning, but rallied for three runs. Isaac Swafford singled, Jonah Kelsey and Ashton Scott then both walked before Dexter Hicks delivered an RBI single. Austin Templeton and Mason Crump also had RBI singles, but Richmond American left the bases loaded.

Templeton, Jeremy Lakes and Kelsey all pitcher for the Richmond All-Stars.

Both teams will be back in action today at Anderson-Dean Park, with Richmond National taking on Western National (3 p.m.) and Richmond American set to face Western American (3 p.m.).
