Little League All-Stars kick off today
Six Richmond Little League All-Stars teams will begin their pursuit of state championships today as play in the District 3 Tournaments gets under way.
The Richmond 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars will play the first game of the opening round at Anderson-Dean Park in Harrodsburg, while the 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars and 10- and 11-year-old All-Stars are set to take the field in Cynthiana.
The top two teams in each tournament (the winner and runner-up), will advance to the state tournament, which is scheduled for later this month at Lake Reba in Richmond.
In the 11- and 12-year-old tournament, Richmond National is set to take on Winchester National at 1 p.m. today, while Richmond American will face Mercer County at 3 p.m.
In the 10- and 11-year-old tournament, Richmond American will take on Harrison County at noon today, while Richmond National is set to face Winchester at 6 p.m.
In the 9- and 10-year-old tournament, Richmond National will face Eastern American at noon, while Richmond American will face Winchester National at noon.

The Madison Central cheerleading team arrived in Orlando, Fla., focused on competing against some of the top squads from all across the country at the prestigious Universal Cheerleading Association National Championships.
However, very serious distractions quickly arose.
