RICHMOND — Kourtney Chrisman put the Hurst Home Insurance team up early in the Richmond Girls Softball Major League final Tuesday and her team was able to hold on to take the title with a 6-2 win over Golden Corral at Irvine McDowell Park.

Chrisman stole home in the first inning and scored again on a groundout in the third inning to give her team a 2-0 advantage. Then, in the fifth inning, the Hurst Home Insurance team exploded for a four-run spurt.

Chrisman and Danielle French both scored on a double by Tilly Jones, then Morgan Winkler and Jones both got across the plate on a double by Laura Switzer.

The Golden Corral team fought valiantly in the bottom of the sixth inning. Michelle Stamper scored on a groundout and Kirsten Spillman stole home, but their attempt fell short.

Chrisman was 3-for-4 with three singles, French was 2-for-4 with a single and a double, Jones was 2-for-4 with a single and a double and Switzer was 2-for-3 with a single and a double. The winning pitcher was Brislyn Sizemore, who picked up six strikeouts in the six-inning effort.

Spillman, Emily Lowe, Camille Coltrain and Stamper all hit singles for the Golden Corral team. Lowe went the distance from the circle.
