RICHMOND — The best men’s scores last week at Galaxy were a 636 series by David Norman in the Wednesday Wonders League and a 246 game by Kenny Smith in the Friday Night Mixed League. Michelle Ratliff with a 581 series in the Arlington League and Karen Kensicki with a 245 game in the Early Birds League led the women. League Highlights Galaxy Classic Neil Haggard and Lewis Jones, Jr. had the best series with scores of 625 each. Tyler Morgan was right behind with a 623 series, while Scott Kaylor and Carl Daniels also posted series scores above 600. Morgan (236) and Jones, Jr. (231) bowled the highest games. Brandon Simpson, Ron Roberts, Billy McGuire, Neil Haggard, Mark Rogers and Clifford Rose all bowled scores of 220 or higher. The scores of the 10 other men who bowled 200-level games are included in the top scores at the end of the column. The women in the league were led by Kim Breeding’s 551 series and Beverly Shearer’s 214 game. Galaxy Girls Michelle Ratliff (513) and Karen Hendrix (509) bowled the top series in this league. The high games were 202 by both Velma Cruse and Carole Bales. Narita Rose picked up the 6-7-10 split. Wednesday Wonders David Norman led this league with a 636 series, which included games of 226 and 224. The top game of the night was bowled by Adam Horvath (236). Horvath began his high game with six strikes, picked up a difficult 2-4-8-10 split in the seventh frame, and finished with three spares. Terry Jackson, Woody Arvin and Zach Ball also bowled 200-level games. JoAnn Smith (170) and Beverly Shearer (161) had the top women’s games, while Shearer (455) and Pat Allen (443) bowled the top women’s series. Tim Price converted the 2-7 split. Classic Doubles Wesley Canter led this league with a 221 game and 580 series. Jerry R. Rose (212), Mark Rogers (211), and Steve McKnight with a no-miss 206 had the next best games. Beverly Shearer had the best scores for the league’s ladies with a 194 game and 496 series. Tina Hisle had the next-best women’s scores with a 161 game and 460 series. Splits converted included the 3-10 by Hisle, the 6-7-10 and 3-10 by David Robinson and the 4-5 by both Mike Dillon and Mike Milne. Early Birds Karen Kensicki turned in an outstanding performance with a no-miss 245 game and a 578 series. Pat Harris and Beverly Shearer had the second-best series scores at 505 each, while Shearer had the second-highest game at 193. Sub Renda Roberts had a 511 series. Season-best games were bowled by Ruth Stocker (184) and Juanita Lunsford (178). Both Carroll Hackworth and Pat Harris converted the 5-7 split. Arlington Michelle Ratliff set a new high series score for the season in this league with a 581 total, which included the high game for the week (218). The next highest series was 527 by Connie Bowlin, while Linda Bowles had the second-high game at 193. Season-best games were bowled by Janell Williams (189), Tina Hunter (188) and Lorna Tribble (179). Splits converted included the 4-7-10 by Missy Smith and the 5-7 by sub Joyce Kearns. TGIF The top game and series in this league were bowled by Charlie Harris with a 215 game and 562 series. Merle Meade had the second-best game (191), followed by Fred Tilsley with a no-miss 190 game. Tilsley also had the second-highest series (527). Lemetta Dause led the ladies with a 180 game and 486 series, while Pat Harris was second in each category at 173 and 448. Splits converted included the 2-7 and 3-10 by Tilsley, and the 3-10 by Meade and Harold Stoll. Friday Night Mixed Kenny Smith led this league with a season-best 246 game and a 606 series. Ronald Richmond had the next best scores with a 213 game and 571 series. Wanda Jones led the league’s ladies with a season-best 206 game and 515 series. Christy Richmond had the second-highest women’s game (170) and Miranda Rowe the second-best series (449). Bad Bowlers The high games in this league were 195 by Jay Puckett and 184 by Jim Hisle. Tina Hisle (170) and Jerian Shaw (133) led the league’s women. Bowl For A Cure A charity bowling event, Bowl For A Cure, will he held at Galaxy at 2 p.m. Sunday. Net proceeds will go to the Madison County Relay For Life/American Cancer Society. This event is in memory of two members of the local bowling community — Roger Dale Childress and Christine Graves, who succumbed to cancer. Bowlers will pay $15 to bowl three no-tap games. Nine pins down on the first ball in a frame counts as a strike in no-tap. Door prizes donated by local businesses will be awarded. Women’s City Tournament re-scheduled The annual women’s city tournament has been re-scheduled for the next two Saturdays, March 20 and 27, at 2 p.m. Entry forms are available at the Galaxy Center.
