RICHMOND —
Police charged a Turpin Drive man with several felonies Tuesday after officers patrolling Robinson Terrace heard gunshots.
Jacob Newman, 27, was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property (firearm) and tampering with physical evidence.
Officers were investigating a report of suspicious activity in Robinson Terrace when they heard three gunshots, according to an RPD news release.
The officers stopped Newman shortly afterward and discovered a stolen .380 caliber handgun near him, the release stated. Newman was in possession of matching ammunition, according to the RPD.
Attempt to conceal pill leads to felony charges
An attempt to conceal a pill and drug paraphernalia in the back seat of a police car led to two felony charges for a Richmond woman, according to the RPD.
Rebecca Dixon, 47, of Miller Drive, was arrested after a traffic stop Tuesday on Lexington Road. She was charged with disregarding a traffic control device, no registration plates, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, failure to register or transfer a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana.
However, Dixon received two felony charges when a methadone pill and drug paraphernalia were found under the back seat of the police car she rode in to the Madison County Detention Center, according to the RPD.
Dixon was additionally charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Medication stolen from Miller Drive home
A woman on Miller Drive reported Monday that someone stole more than $1,000 in medication while she was asleep on her couch.
The stolen pills included 63 Gabapentin, 102 oxycodone, 49 methadone and an unknown quantity of clonazepam.
The woman said she had several acquaintances at the residence during the time the medication, valued at $1,045, was stolen.
Blue Moon Bar burglarized
Liquor, cigarettes and cash were taken after a break-in Tuesday at the Blue Moon Bar.
Officers responded to an alarm call at the East Irvine Street bar and discovered the back door had been breached.
No one was found in the building, according to the RPD. The owner discovered several bottles of liquor, cigarettes and a small amount of cash had been taken.
The estimated loss was $264.
