U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler, D-Sixth District, who will be on the Nov. 6 ballot, will speak Friday afternoon for the grand opening of the Democratic Party’s Madison County campaign headquarters.
The event begins at 3 p.m. in the headquarters office, 201 W. Main St., Richmond, across from the Madison County Courthouse, said Brooks Stumbo, chair of the Democrats’ county executive committee. Refreshments will be served.
The headquarters is stocked with campaign materials, including bumper stickers and yard signs for volunteers and supporters of Democratic candidates, he said.
Party headquarters has been open unofficially for a few weeks. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
On Monday evening, Oct. 8, the Madison County Democratic Women’s Club will meet at party headquarters. After a potluck meal at 6 p.m., a business meeting will start at 6:30 p.m.
