RICHMOND —
After Berea police stopped Robin Powell, 46, of Berea, at the intersection of Prospect Street and Scaffold Cane Road on Saturday morning a search of her vehicle uncovered “several different kinds of pills” and a straw with white residue inside it, according to a Berea Police Department news release.
While in detained, Powell attempted to eat some of the pills, the release stated.
Powell was charged with first- and second-degree possession of a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia possession, tampering with physical evidence, prescription controlled substance not in the original container and several traffic offenses.
She was being held Tuesday evening in the Madison County Detention Center a cash bond of $7,946 cash, according to jail records.
On Friday, Michael Shoopman, 29, of Bratcher Lane was picked up on an arrest warrant in connection with forgery charges. The arrest resulted in additional drug charges, the police news release stated.
Richmond police in a Monday news release stated Shoopman was suspected of passing a counterfeit check, purporting to be a payroll check from Hitachi for $238, at Pally’s on Water Street in February.
When arrested Friday, Shoopman had a black laptop case in which officers found a soda can with a melted substance on it that is suspected Percocet, according to the BPD release.
Officers also found two syringes and marijuana.
Shoopman was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He remained jail Tuesday evening on a $5,000 cash bond.
On Thursday, Zachary Robinson, 24, of Berea, was stopped on North Broadway for a minor traffic violation, according to a BPD press release.
“The officer observed that the driver was extremely nervous” and searched his car, the release stated. A search of Robinson’s person uncovered seven hydrocodone tablets and rolling papers in his pants pocket, the release said.
He was charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and several traffic offenses.
Robinson was released Friday on a $150 unsecured third-party bond.
Other crimes:
• On Sunday, officers responded to a burglary report from the 100 block of Holly Hill Drive. A window in the home was broken out, entry was made, but nothing was taken.
• On Feb. 27, a victim reported leaving his vehicle overnight in the parking lot of BP on Paint Lick Road. When he returned in the morning it was gone. The estimated loss is $5,000.
• Also Feb. 27, a resident on Jackson Street reported that several tools were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked on the street. The estimated loss is $1,375.
• On Feb. 26, a resident in the 200 block of North Broadway reported two work ladders stolen from a parked work vehicle. The estimated loss is $654.
• On Feb. 25, a resident in the 100 block of Rose Court reported that items were stolen from his vehicle overnight. Estimated loss is $75.
• On Feb. 25, a victim reported a burglary in the 100 block of Mary Street. A rear window was broken out and the residence was entered, but nothing was taken.
