Boone County —
An elderly Boone County farmer shot and killed a Richmond man he said had broken into his house early Monday morning, according to the Cincinnati Inquirer.
Lloyd (Adam) Maxwell, 24, died after Earl Jones, 92, shot him with a .22 caliber rifle, a story on the newspaper’s website says.
Kenton County Police, investigating the report of a shooting, found Maxwell’s body and two uninjured men in a 2001 Chevrolet Impala on Courtney Road. During questioning, Ryan Dalton, 22, and Donnie Inabnit, 20, both of Dry Ridge, admitted to being at Jones’ home on Violet Road, according to the news report.
Dalton and Inabnit were charged with second-degree burglary and tampering with evidence. Police say they removed Maxwell’s body from Jones’ Violet Road home, the Enquirer reported.
The Boone County Sheriff had no information Monday night on whether Jones would be charged, but the investigation is ongoing. Police haven’t said if the intruders were armed, the newspaper reported.
Jones told the Enquirer’s reporter he is not happy that police took the rifle used in the shooting.
“How am I going to protect myself if they come back looking for revenge?” he said.
