Guitar stolen in church burglary

Brian Smith

BEREA — A local church was the victim of a burglary earlier this month, Berea police said, and the thief made off with an expensive musical instrument.

The break-in was reported Nov. 9 at Full Gospel Outreach, 120 Liberty Ave., said Capt. Ken Clark, Berea Police Department spokesman.

A Martin acoustic guitar valued at $1,500 was taken from the church in the burglary, Clark said. The church had been broken into last month, but nothing was taken in that break-in.

Police are still investigating the theft.

Counterfeit bills

Police also are investigating the passing of two counterfeit bills at Walmart in two separate incidents, Clark said.

On Nov. 2, Walmart employees reported that a counterfeit $100 bill was passed at the store.

Less than two weeks later, on Nov. 14, a counterfeit $50 bill was passed at the store, Clark said.

Berea police have investigated several instances of counterfeit money being passed recently, including a counterfeit $20 bill passed earlier this month at Sam’s Smokehouse Grill.
