Richmond police and the Madison County Coroner have been called to the scene of a train accident that killed one person Tuesday evening.
According to Sgt. Willard Reardon, Richmond Police Department spokesman, police and the coroner are investigating the death of a white male who was struck and killed by a train on Four Mile Road near the Richmond Fire Training Center.
The man has not been identified, and coroner Jimmy Cornelison is not expected to release any details about the man's death until after the victim's next of kin has been notified, Reardon said.
Traffic through downtown Richmond was being diverted by officers, including Chief Larry Brock, while investigators work to extricate the man's remains and clear the scene.
