Woman killed in Berea collision

BEREA — A Berea woman died Tuesday evening after suffering fatal wounds from a two-car collision that occurred at the Old US 25/Harrison-King Lane intersection.

Alicia D. Goding, 45, was turning left off of Harrison-King Lane onto Old US 25 at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when her Pontiac Firebird was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado that sustained severe damage, according to a report issued Tuesday from Kentucky State Police Post 7.

Goding had turned into the path of Joshua Napier, 18, of Richmond, who was traveling with 14-year-old Jacob B. Napier.

Goding was transported by Madison County Emergency Medical Services to St. Joseph Berea Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Joshua escaped the accident without injury, and Jacob was driven by a private vehicle to St. Joseph Berea Hospital with a minor knee injury, according to the report.

Both Goding and Napier were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.

Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison said Wednesday that Goding’s family was in the process of completing funeral arrangements.

Representatives of the Berea Fire Department and Rescue Squad assisted EMS workers and KSP troopers at the scene.

Berea fire and rescue workers extricated Goding from her vehicle, Cornelison said.

A toxicology exam was performed on Goding at the hospital, and results should be returned in about two weeks.

The collision remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Michael Stotts.
