Yard sale shopper spots stolen ATV
Counterfeit bills passed
BEREA — Four counterfeit $100 bills were passed at cash registers in the Berea Walmart on Oct. 2, according to a Berea Police report.
“Walmart’s surveillance video cameras recorded two black females making purchases with the bogus bills on two different trips into the store,” said Capt. Ken Clark, the police department spokesperson.
No store or police department personnel who reviewed the video could recognize the suspects, he said.
“The two women came into the store together, selected merchandise, made their purchases at different registers, got their change and left,” Clark said. “Then they came back and did the same thing.”
Video surveillance also captured the women driving away from the store’s parking lot but did not capture their vehicle’s license number, he said.
Also on Oct. 2, the owner of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) that was reported stolen in Garrard County discovered it while shopping at yard sales in Berea, Clark said.
“I’m not sure if the ATV was for sale but the owner noticed it parked at a home on Mary Street,” Clark said. “The person who was in possession of the ATV, valued at $450, said it had purchased from someone else.”
The theft remains under investigation.
On Oct. 9, Berea Police arrested Michelle McClintock, 46, of 167 Barrett Lane and charged her with stealing $569 from a safe at the Tobacco Shed, 102 Prince Royal Drive.
McClintock was a former of employee of the business, Clark said.
“After the business owner presented evidence, the police department obtained an arrest warrant for Ms. McClintock,” he said. “When she came back to the shop to collect her last pay check, the police were called, and she was placed under arrest.”
McClintock was charged with theft by unlawful taking-over $500 and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, where she remained Tuesday under a $2,500, 10-percent cash bond.
On Oct. 10, Berea Police arrested David W. Feltner, 41, of Richmond, on charges of marijuana possession, possession of a controlled substance third-degree, and possession of a controlled substance not in original container.
He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center and released Oct. 11 on a $750 10-percent cash bond, according to a jail spokesperson.
On Oct. 9, Berea Police made two arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Larry W. Wilson, 25, of 6228 Battlefield Memorial Highway was stopped on Richmond Road at 2:58 a.m., Clark said, and charged with failure to signal a turn and for driving with an unilluminated rear license plate in addition to first-offense DUI.
He was lodged in the detention center and was released on his own recognizance later in the day, according to a jail spokesperson.
Billy R. Lunsford, 43, of Mt. Vernon was stopped on Big Hill Road at 8:31 p.m., Clark said, and charged with first-offense DUI. He was released Oct. 10 on an unsecured third-party bond of $750, the jail spokesperson said.

Berea men arrested for robbery
Berea police arrested two men in connection with a March 8 robbery at a check-cashing business, a spokesman said Monday.
Shawn Burns, 32, was charged with first-degree robbery and misdemeanor receiving stolen property, while Bradley Lamb, 21, was charged with complicity to first-degree robbery and misdemeanor receiving stolen property, said Capt. Ken Clark, Berea Police Department spokesman. -
City seeks proposals for Gibson Bay Cafe
The operation lease for Gibson Bay Cafe expires at the end of May, and the City of Richmond will be accepting bids for the operation of the restaurant from the public until Friday, March 26.
Gibson Bay Cafe, which is located at Lake Reba Recreational Complex on the Gibson Bay Golf Course, is owned by city commissioner Bill Strong and his wife Jeanie Strong. -
Reports of home burglaries keep Richmond police busy
The new owner of a mobile home on Bradbury Pointe reported to Richmond police Friday that appliances had been stolen from the home.
