LEXINGTON —
Christopher Guy Rogers, 26, of Lexington, was sentenced to 30 years in prison by United States District Court Judge Karl S. Forester in federal court in Lexington on Friday.
Rogers admitted in court that he and another man robbed Madison County drug dealers, according to a press release from the office of Kerry B. Harvey, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
“According to court documents, Rogers and another individual tried to rob drug dealers in Madison County of drugs and drug money on June 27, 2008. He admitted that he had a firearm during the robbery and that the other individual shot one of the victims as they were leaving the residence,” according to the press release.
Rogers also admitted to robbing the Florence Market in Lexington and brandishing a firearm during the robbery, the release said.
For using a firearm during the robberies, Rogers is subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years, and under federal law, he must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence, the release said. When he is released, Rogers will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for five years.
According to the press release, the investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Lexington Police Department and the Richmond Police Department.
