A man wanted on four felony charges in Ohio is now facing several misdemeanor charges in Madison County.
Robert J. Pearson, 33, of Berea was arrested by Richmond Police officers early Thursday morning, said Larry Brock, Richmond police chief.
Officers investigating another crime stopped Pearson in front of David’s Wrecker Service on East Irvine Street to question him about the crime. When officers asked for his name, date of birth and social security number, he allegedly gave them false information.
The officers were able to determine that Pearson had not given them correct information and attempted to arrest him, when he fled on foot, Brock said.
He was stopped at the area of Madison Towers where he allegedly attempted to run away from officers. When officers attempted to handcuff him, Pearson allegedly refused to comply and began to physically resist. According to a police report, he was “stunned” and handcuffed.
Pearson was charged with giving a police officer a false name or address, second-degree fleeing or evading police and resisting arrest, all Class A misdemeanors.
After police were able to identify Pearson, they learned he was wanted out of Columbus, Ohio, on four counts of aggravated vehicular assault, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison according to Ohio state law, and failure to stop after an accident, a misdemeanor.
If convicted of the charges in Madison County, Pearson faces up to 12 months in prison.
Other crimes
• The front window, valued at $350, was smashed out of an apartment in the 200 block of Keystone drive between Aug. 28 and Aug. 31.
• A woman told police on Aug. 24, that someone made a $149.95 electronic debit/credit from her checking account to USA credit in Delaware, and that someone wrote a check for $50 from her account, in addition, the woman also told police that someone had made a $29.95 electronic check to Super Club Savings in Delaware from her checking account.
• A representative of Developers Diversified Realty told police someone had cut through a concrete curb to steal a large drainage grate from the rear of Dollar Tree in the 800 block of Easter Bypass. The grate is valued at $1,000.
• A counterfeit $10 bill was passed sometime Aug. 31 at Walmart.
• The right-side, handlebars, muffler, body panels, steering column, front frame and front brake rotor were damaged on a 2003 Suzuki SV650S motorcycle overnight Aug. 28 while it was parked in the 100 block of North 3rd Street.
• On Monday, the owner of a rental home in the 500 block of Breezeway Drive told police that someone had broken into the residence overnight by accessing an unlocked garage window, and a 42-inch Samsung plasma television, valued at $1,000, was stolen.
