BEREA — The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will close its temporary Disaster Loan Outreach Center in Madison County on Thursday. Another center in Carter County also will close Thursday.
The Madison County center that is closing is located in Berea City Hall, 212 Chestnut St. Its hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The centers have provided homeowners, renters, business owners and certain private nonprofit agencies with face-to-face service in completing their loan applications, answering questions about SBA loan programs and explaining how an SBA disaster loan can help pay for their disaster losses.
Representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) also have been stationed at the disaster centers to provide assistance to individual homeowners and renters.
To date, SBA has approved more than $4.4 million in low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters and business owners in Kentucky who suffered damage as a result of the severe storms.
Anyone unable to visit the center before it closes may obtain information and loan applications by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 or 1-800-877-8339 for the speech or hearing impaired, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or by sending an email to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
Business loan applications can also be downloaded from the SBA website, www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance. Completed applications should be returned to one of the Centers or mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.
Disaster loan applications also can be submitted via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/.
