RICHMOND —
A 6-year-old girl and a woman were transported Tuesday morning to the UK Medical Center after their car veered off Red House Road and struck a tree.
Devon Proctor, 22, was in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon and Draya Grissom, 6, was in fair condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Kentucky State Police Post 7 in Richmond was called at 6:52 a.m. by Madison County 911 Dispatch to respond to a single-vehicle crash on Red House Road east of Richmond.
“The initial investigation revealed that a 2006 Toyota Corolla was traveling west on Red House Road,” according to Trooper Paul Blanton, spokesperson for Post 7. “The operator lost control, went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.”
Both victims were taken to the Lexington hospital for treatment, Blanton said.
The wet road was likely a contributing factor in the accident, and drugs and/or alcohol use are not suspected, he said.
Both Proctor and Grissom were wearing seat belts when the accident occurred, Blanton said.
KSP Trooper Ken Bradley is investigating the mishap and was assisted at the scene by Madison County EMS.
