On March 6, Berea police seized 169 hydrocodone tablets and $442 in cash and charged an Ohio woman and an Irvine man with drug trafficking.
According to a Berea Police Department news release, Carolyn Horn, 60, of Trenton, Ohio, was arrested at America’s Best Value Inn where officers seized the drugs and cash.
Phillip Estes, 34, Irvine, was arrested in the parking lot of Circle K on Chestnut Street where a shotgun and a handgun were seized, the release stated.
Both were charged with second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. Estes also was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
On Sunday, BPD officers were called to the Holiday Motel to investigate possible illegal drug activity.
They made contact with a woman in one of the motel’s rooms and obtained consent to look inside, the news release stated.
Officers then found several used syringes, a spoon coated with a melted substance, and two tablets. The woman, Loren Sparks, 24, of Richmond, told the officers the substance on the spoon was oxycodone, according to the release.
She was arrested and charged with first and third-degree possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia possession
Also on Sunday a resident in the 400 Block of Oak Street reported that several firearms, valued at $2,734, had been stolen from inside the home.
A resident in the 100 Block of Spring Circle Drive reported Sunday that items valued at $400 had been stolen from his vehicle overnight.
On March 5, officers were called to the Cracker Barrel restaurant where a customer told them items valued at nearly $9,400 were stolen from a vehicle while it was left in the parking lot.
On Friday, Berea police charged a pedestrian on Interstate 75 with public intoxication and second-degree criminal trespass. A driver on Chestnut Street who had been stopped for a minor traffic violation and told officers he had taken medication and was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
