Berea man charged in strong-arm robbery

RICHMOND — Richmond police arrested a Berea man Saturday that they believe struck a person on the head and then stole his cell phone, wallet and $200.

Adam L. Anglin, 24, of Burchwood Drive in Berea, was charged with second-degree robbery after police investigated a report of an assault and theft around 5:15 p.m., according to an RPD news release.

The officers met with a man in the 100 block of Rice Court who told them he had been hit in the head by Anglin, which caused him to loss consciousness, the release states.

The man said Anglin stole his wallet, $200 and a cell phone.

Officers found Anglin at 8 p.m. on Boggs Lane near the Madison County Health Department. The release states they recovered $192 from him, and further investigation confirmed he was the suspect named in the robbery report.

Anglin was booked into the Madison County Detention Center where he remained Monday evening under a $25,000 bond, according to the jail’s website.

Police: Intoxicated man found with pot, $13,000

Police charged a man with public intoxication and trafficking in marijuana early Monday after they discovered small bags of marijuana and at least $13,000 cash on him.

Police noticed Christopher Cummings, 24, of East Locust Street, walking down Shamrock Lane at 1:46 a.m., carrying a black drawstring bag, according to a news release from Chief Larry Brock.

“Due to recent vehicle break-ins in the area, the officer stopped to speak with Cummings at which time it was determined that Cummings was under the influence of an intoxicant,” Brock said in the release.

Officers searched Cummings and found five small bags or marijuana and “an excess” of $13,000 in the bag he was carrying, the release states.

Cummings was arrested and booked into the Madison County Detention Center.

During the contact, the officer found that Ogle was a fugitive from Virginia on a probation violation in connection with his 2011 conviction for malicious wounding, the release states.
