RICHMOND —
A man who police say broke into his girlfriend’s apartment and tackled her is now in jail. Richmond police arrested Donnie Creech, 27, of Boone Trail Road after responding to a domestic disturbance, according to Richmond Police Chief Larry Brock.
Officers were dispatched Friday at 2:20 p.m. to an apartment in the 700 block of Marietha Drive.
“Creech and his girlfriend were engaged in a verbal dispute outside the apartment when the girlfriend walked into her apartment and locked the door,” Brock said.
He then forced his way into the apartment, tackling his girlfriend “in an attempt to prevent her from calling police,” he said.
Police later learned that Creech was subject to an active Emergency Protection Order (EPO), which prohibits him from committing an acts of violence against the victim or damaging property.
Creech is facing charges of violation of a Kentucky EPO, fourth-degree assault and third-degree mischief.
As of Monday afternoon, Creech remained in the Madison County Detention Center under a $5,000 cash bond.
Antique ice box recovered; man charged
Richmond police have charged a Hillsdale Avenue man in connection with a theft reported last week.
Jerry Eddington, 35, was charged Friday with receiving stolen property under $10,000. Eddington is being connected to an incident in which an antique oak ice box was taken from a home in the 300 block of Hill Street. The ice box was valued at approximately $6,000, according to police.
The resident reported to police Nov. 26 that the ice box had been stolen from the home. Entry was gained through a side door, police say.
The item was recovered from Eddington’s house Friday, Brock said. The suspect was cited to court and released.
