RICHMOND —
The Croquet on the Lawn summer party, which benefits the Kentucky Riverkeeper, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the clubhouse on Clairmont Drive in Grey Oaks in Richmond.
The Kentucky Riverkeeper is a nonprofit organization which seeks to find ways to restore the Kentucky River in the next decade by working with citizen coalitions throughout the watershed, according to the group’s website.
Partygoers will be able to enjoy croquet on the lawn as well as participate in a silent auction for artwork created by local woodworkers, painters, jewelry makers and others.
Each croquet wicket will be named after the 14 dams along the Kentucky River basin, three of which are in Madison County: Valley View, Ford and College Hill.
The watershed encompasses about 7,000 square miles with 42 counties within its basin. The river supplies drinking water to about one-sixth of the state’s population.
Tickets are $25 and the recommended dress for the event is summer whites.
To purchase tickets, send payment to: Kentucky Riverkeeper, 300 Summit Street, Richmond.
For details or to donate to the silent auction contact Connie Lawson or Tonita Goodwin at 622-3065 or 661-0285.
