A Madison County woman is facing felony drug charges after being arrested for shoplifting.
Officers responded to Lowe’s at about 3:38 p.m. Sunday, and arrested Kayla B. Neely, 25, of Green’s Crossing, for allegedly shoplifting $40 in merchandise from the store, said Larry Brock, Richmond police chief. When officers took Neely into custody, they allegedly discovered two Adererall pills in a red tube inside her purse, Brock said.
She was charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony, and theft by unlawful taking under $500, a Class A misdemeanor.
Police were in the area of Keri Ann Drive investigating an unrelated crime, Brock said, when officers encountered Robert L. Lamb, 48, of Horse Cove Road at approximately 7 a.m. Sunday. Brock said officers observed Lamb to be in possession of a pill bottle containing three alprozolam pills and three Lortab pills. Officers arrested Lamb and allegedly discovered a small amount of marijuana “on his person,” Brock said. He was charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.
A Class D felony is punishable by between one and five years imprisonment, while a Class A misdemeanor is punishable by between 90 days and 12 months imprisonment.
Other crimes:
• On Sunday, a member of the Army Reserve Center on North Keeneland Drive told police that someone had attempted to cut the catalytic converter from a government vehicle parked at the center sometime during the past week. The attempt was unsuccessful.
• A resident of the 700 block of North Third Street told police that two visitors to her home Friday, had stolen a 13” flat screen television, a DVD player and several bottles of prescription medication. The stolen items are valued at $602.
• A patron of Lowe’s told police that someone had stolen a vacuum pump and two bags of tools from his work truck while he was inside the store during. The items stolen are valued at $950.
• On Sunday, a patron of the Maverick Club, 1507 East Main St., told police that her vehicle had been broken into sometime during the evening of July 24. She told police that the driver’s-side window had been broken out and her purse stolen from the vehicle’s trunk. The purse contained a woman’s size 7 gold ring, two women’s size 7 gold and cubic zirconia rings, a blue Kodak digital camera and a pink Sanyo digital camera, three RCA MP3 players, a black iPod and $3,000 cash. The items are valued at $4,050.
• A resident of the 500 block of Mahaffey Drive told police that on Saturday someone stole an iPhone valued at $200 from her residence.
• On Monday, a resident of the 100 block of Longview Drive told police a yellow, pancake-style Bostitch air compressor valued at $250 had been stolen from her that evening.
