RICHMOND —
A man stopped by Walmart employees who suspected him of shoplifting was charged Tuesday with drug possession.
James Foster, 37, was detained by Walmart loss prevention staff when they saw him allegedly conceal merchandise worth $26.47 and attempt to leave the store, according to Maj. Bob Mott of the Richmond Police Department.
Police were called, and during their investigation, they found that Foster reportedly had a small amount of suspect methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Foster was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia as well as theft by unlawful taking.
He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center where he remained Wednesday afternoon.
Damage to vehicle
A woman reported to police Monday that her vehicle’s windshield had been damaged overnight by rocks, according to RPD. It was parked in the 500 block of Ballard Drive. Estimated damage was $350.
Items taken from vehicle
A man told police Sunday that several items were taken from his vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of Alycia Drive, according to RPD. The items taken included a red LL Bean backpack, several college textbooks and a wallet with various credit cards and ID. Estimated loss was $345.
