RICHMOND —
August will begin a new year for the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary. Members and guests are invited to an informal gathering at 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at the home of Sandee Bonar.
The auxiliary will hear of new plans developing at the Salvation Army Corps building on East Main Street. Capt. Sally Love and the auxiliary president, Melody Mitchell, will outline ways members may serve the Salvation Army as volunteers.
Auxiliary members continue to work in the thrift store each Monday, maintain the soup kitchen each Monday and Friday at the Army Shelter, and assist in serving lunches on Saturday for children from the canteen.
Members also will soon begin to make plans and arrangements for the Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets and the Angel Tree project, the Christmas stockings, as well as ringing bells.
By the first of the year, the auxiliary will be announcing the annual Springtime Tea, the only fundraising event on its schedule.
Any woman interested in becoming a member is invited to the Aug. 16 event. For more details, call 248-7483 or 979-0383
