Tools reported stolen from storage unit on Big Hill Ave.

RICHMOND — More than $10,000 in tools was reported stolen Tuesday from a storage unit on Big Hill Avenue.

A complainant told police that her self-storage unit at Stor-All had been unlawfully entered and numerous tools, worth $10,300, were taken.

There were no signs of forced entry, according to a Richmond police news release.

The missing items were two Craftsman 3-ton jacks, a black, 20-inch floor fan, a set of car ramps, two motor stands, three sets of Craftsman 4-ton jack stands, a free-standing motor puller, a white 3-foot refrigerator, two Snap-On checkered racing stools, a Snap-On 60-gallon air compressor, a Craftsman shop vac, a Craftsman creeper, a work bench, a tall metal shelf, an 18,000 BTU kerosene heater, a disc sander and stand, a Craftsman reciprocating saw, a Craftsman circular saw, a Craftsman cordless drill, a Craftsman circular saw, a Craftsman cordless drill, a Craftsman cordless trim saw, and a Craftsman air hammer.

Other crime:

• A representative of Victory World Outreach Center, Victory Drive, told police Wednesday that two catalytic converters, worth $800, had been stolen from a church van sometime during the previous four days.

• A resident in the 400 block of Big Hill Avenue told police Wednesday that his red Kent 1600 mountain bicycle with a red flashing light on the seat, worth $200, had been stolen from the side of his apartment building shortly after midnight.

  • Madison County veterans to host Memorial Day ceremonies

    The Madison County Veterans Association, which includes a number of local veterans’ organizations, will be hosting two Memorial Day ceremonies Monday.
    The first will take place at the Richmond Cemetery near the flagpole at 10 a.m., and the second will follow at noon in Madison County Memorial Gardens on Berea Road.
    Everett King of the American Legion, which is coordinating this year’s events, said U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, R-Sixth District, will be present at the morning ceremony.
    Every year the Memorial Day event has a theme. Last year’s theme was honoring Vietnam veterans, King said, while this year’s theme is honoring all American soldiers.
