BEREA —
A man is facing a felony charge after police say he stole a purse left at Walmart by mistake.
The owner of the purse reported to Berea police that she had left it in the store, and it had not been returned to her. Officers watched surveillance video from the store and saw Rodney Meadows, 35, walking by the purse several times. He eventually picked up the purse and left the parking lot, according to the report.
Meadows later came back to Walmart. Store employees reportedly recognized him from the tape and called the police. After Meadows was detained, the purse was found and returned to the owner, according to the report. Meadows was charged Saturday with theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake.
The purse was missing $800 in cash and a prescription for a controlled substance with 15 pills left in the bottle.
