Hello readers. We all had a very Merry Christmas right here in Paint Lick this past Saturday when the first snowfall of the early winter season fell overnight and filled our day with wonderment.
We volunteers here at the Friends building were overjoyed with the outpouring of guests who came to hear the Christmas story, told wonderfully by Carrie Tuttle of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. Mrs. Delta Lamb, Colleen Moore and probably “the mommy helpers” were on hand to do Christmas crafts while a large group downstairs enjoyed the Christmas cookies, coffee and hot chocolate at our Christmas in the Village.
After everything was over at the building, Santa came “honking the big horn” on the Cartersville and Paint Lick fire truck and the ladies and gentlemen at the firehouse were a godsend. I cannot put into words the many thanks I have for all the volunteers who helped at this Christmas celebration. While there were so many here, I can only hope that you will read this as I say, Mrs. Dean Cornett would have been so proud of you all. This community pulling together was one of her continuing prayers.
It’s Monday night as I write to you and the snow has gone, but I hear that before this night is through, we’ll see more snow showers and I pray that everyone will practice safe driving as they hurry and shop for the season ahead.
I do want to wish a very happy anniversary (Dec. 7) to Tom and Coy Burnam, whom I hope will look over my forgetfulness, and also to Ced and Ellen Hagan who have an anniversary today (Dec. 10). Then next Tuesday on Dec. 15, I cannot forget Jannie, the special lady who entered my life nearly four years ago and taught me how to appreciate everything that I had neglected for so long. Jannie Garlic will celebrate her birthday on that day. Happy, happy day, Jannie. I miss you.
Also, from all of us at Friends, a big hug and special wishes for Ramey Taylor who we all miss in Paint Lick. Ramey, it wasn’t the same celebration without your family at our Christmas in the Village and we really miss the singing. Come see us soon.
I will close with a special prayer for my friend Dr. Jim Cox of Richmond. I know God holds you in his hand ... so you are most blessed.
